THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a new role which is key to our development.

As our digital initiatives develop, we are looking for a Data Engineer who will help us with modernising our IT architecture, database platform (incl. data warehouse and APIs) and internal processes. We currently have the following relevant systems in use: SQL server, TimeXtender, Axway API Policy Studio, Qlik Sense, MS Excel, Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

You will also be responsible for understanding the data requirements of our business, creating appropriate data solutions, and creating awareness within the global VPS organisation on the importance of data quality and -integrity.

• Designing, implementing, and supporting a platform providing secured access to large datasets. Making use of TimeXtender, Axway and SQL.
• Engaging with key stakeholders to understand and define data requirements.
• Understanding and documenting data structure and business rules.
• Identifying data issues using data quality and profiling tools as appropriate.
• Contributing to the analysis, design, development and delivery of data migration, data integration and MDM projects by performing data mapping.
• Collaborating with other teams (either within VPS or customer’s) to deliver secure, reliable, robust, and scalable data solutions.
• Day-to-day development activities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, master data management, analytics, data quality and data stewardship. As a key member of our data services team, you design, test, deploy and maintain data solutions.

We need our Data Engineer to be versatile, to display leadership qualities and to be enthusiastic and intrinsically motivated in finding solutions to new problems.

• Demonstrable experience within data engineering and data related projects.
• Experience working in a mission-critical environment.
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server and familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Knowledge of TimeXtender and/or Axway Policy Studio is a plus.
• Understanding of solution architecture and familiar with Azure architecture.
• Familiar with machine learning languages (e.g. R, Python, Java).
• Understanding in and an interest for improving business processes.
